Indian Railways has issued a new set of guidelines for the passengers, following the restarting of its passenger train operations across India after nearly two months of suspension owing to the coronavirus threat. 15 pairs of new special trains have started operations apart from the Shramik trains to help the migrant labourers and other stranded passengers reach their destinations.Â
However, high levels of sanitization and security have been ensured at the railway stations and during the journey. Here are the revised guidelines that are set forth by the Indian Railways to ensure a safe travelling experience for the passengers.Â
- Reach 90 minutes in advance: The passengers are to arrive at the railway station 90 minutes prior to their scheduled departure.Â
- Compulsory screening: All the passengers will be screened mandatorily before boarding the train. Only asymptomatic passengers will be allowed to travel.
- Sanitisation at entry/exit points: The passengers would be provided with hand sanitizers at the entry and exit points of the coaches, as well as during the journey.
- Social distancing: Social distancing is to observed by the passengers at the stations, while boarding and deboarding the train, and throughout the journey.Â
- Use of face masks: All passengers are to wear face masks from the entry point, till the journey is completed.Â
- Blankets/linen during the journey: The passengers will not be provided with blankets or linen during the journey. Thus, they are to carry their own travel essentials for a comfortable journey.
- Pantry services: Pantry services will not be available during the train journey. Passengers are to get their own food for the journey. However, there would be a provision for limited eatables on payment.
- Arogya Setu app: All passengers are to download the Arogya Setu app and use it during the journey.
Special Trainsâ Details
- Currently, the trains will have only AC coaches.
- The journeys will have only limited stoppage.
- The fares would be similar to that of Rajdhani Express.
- There would be no provision for Tatkal or Premium Tatkal reservations.
- Tickets can be booked only through online sources. All station counters remain closed. Booking through agents is also not permitted.
- Only passengers with confirmed tickets will be allowed to enter the stations. RAC/Waitlisted tickets are not allowed.Â
- Booking cancellations are allowed up to 24 hours before the scheduled departure, with a 50% cancellation fee.Â
